Special Interview – Dongwoon

“Japanese is the toughest. Will work harder to learn the Japanese language.”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- DW: I remember all the moments clearly. Especially since we had the Hi Touch event in Japan even though the moment spent in front of each other was very short, putting on the wristband on the fans’ fingers, there were many special events so all the memories were etched in the mind.

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- DW: Was able to walk on the streets with the members and surprisingly there was a shopping mall just for males, selling clothes, shoes, accessories etc. There’s no such (thing) in Korea.

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- DW: I want to go to the sushi place in “Shota’s Sushi” manga. What I want to eat is the sushi Shota makes (laughs)

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- DW: In one sentence… They left an impression of being warm and comfortable.

Special Interview – Hyunseung

“I was touched as they sang our songs in Korean and this gave me courage.”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- HS: The July fanmeeting left me a lasting impression. It was kind of tiring to have two fanmeetings in one day but the fans cheered us on earnestly, and more than anything else, they sang our songs in Korean. I was touched by that scene and it gave me courage. It gave me strength to be able to carry on with the performance.

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- HS: It’s not any happening (event) but there are so many self-vending machines that it surprised me. It’s a fresh sight to see self-vending machines wherever we go. There are self-vending machines in Korea too but not as many as Japan.

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- HS: I’d like to go to Aoyama Douri in Tokyo agai. What I would like to eat again is parfait (ice cream).

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- HS: How should I say this.. It’s not just in Japan, but our fans from all other countries cheer us on earnestly as well, but the Japanese B2UTY give a very gentle impression, somewhat warm and mature.

Special Interview – Junhyung

“Hi-Touch event left the strongest impression on me. We were able to touch the fans and personally, what shocked me was…”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- JH: There were several but the Hi-Touch event in May left the strongest impression on me. We were able to touch may of the fans at a close distance, and what shocked me was that there were male fans at the Hi-Touch event. And he said he is my fan, which shocked me more. Coming to Japan, it was really an interesting experience to be able to meet my male fan. (laughs)

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- JH: What surprised me was that, when you look out from the car windows, there are many people who eat at restaurants alone. In Korea, no one eats alone, so this was quite surprising.

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- JH: Place where I want to go again will be Aoyama and Omotesando. The food that I want to eat again will be Don Buri.

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- JH: What will it be if I express it in one sentence.. (laughs) They have very good manners so I think they are really cool/stylish.

Special Interview – Doojoon

“I proposed the idea of putting wristbands around the fingers, with the meaning of a “promise.”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- DJ: Was able to make many memories with the fans. What left the strongest impression was the album promotion events held in Tokyo and Osaka. Termed the “Promise Event”, having to put on wristbands for the fans on their fingers (?) left most memories to me. Originally, it was to put the wristband on the wrists, but in order to infuse the meaning of a “promise” I personally proposed the idea putting it on the fingers. But right before the day of the event, I injured my leg and the fans were really concerned.. With an even more sincere heart putting on the bands on the fingers of the fans, I still remember it.

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- DJ: What is there~ There are no specially shocking or surprising event but there are so many subway lines I was shocked. (laughs) It was really difficult for us. (laughs)

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- DJ: I’d like to go to Aoyama Douri again. During the July fanmeeting tour, I went out with the members the night before since we were free. It was fun. What I’d like to eat again… Sashimi.. though I’d be able to eat that anytime. (laughs) All Japanese food is really pretty so it’s really good.

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- DJ: I’m really shocked that the Japanese B2UTY is giving us as much support as the Korean B2UTY gives to us. Be it clapping and ovations, or fanchants and cheers, they are getting so similar to Korean B2UTY that it is astonishing.

Special Interview - Yoseob

“It’s impossible if I don’t wear flashy underwear for large scale or important performances.”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- YS: The deepest impression I had was of the wristband event which we placed the bands around the fans fingers. We met fans when we are on stage too, but to be able to meet 1-on-1 and do something for them (made me) very happy.

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- YS: The biggest shock was that in Japan, the driving lane is the opposite of Korea (Japan is right-hand drive). Since it’s on the opposite side, the view to look out (of the car) is really refreshing.

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- YS: I would like to go to Tokyo Tower again, which we’ve been there for a TV program previously. I would like to eat Tonkatsu and Ramen again.

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- YS: Is it not possible to answer this only in one sentence? What is it… The tone of the entire body (of fans) is higher. (laughs)

- Interviewer: Having visited the Asian countries in July, is there any happening that left the deepest impression on you?
- YS: We went to really hot countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore etc. even though it was just as hot a summer. Actually, I’m weak at facing heat/warm places. It was really tough going to places which were even hotter than Korea during July. However, it was interesting. It was a relief to be able to meet the fans of the respective Asian countries.

Special Interview – Kikwang

“Because we know each other so well, there’s nothing that we hide between the members.”

- Interviewer: There were a lot of events held in Japan in 2011. What left the strongest impression on you? Please also tell us the reason.
- KK: Even though we’ve been to Japan several occasions and events last year, personally United Cube that was held in Japan left the deepest impression on me. Was really worried that the seats would not be filled especially in such a large concert hall as the Budoukan, but the seats all sold out, so it was very fulfilling/happy and shocking such that it left an impression until now.

- Interviewer: What was the most surprising or shocking event that happened in Japan?
- KK: It wasn’t any happening (event) but when the taxi doors open and close automatically it was shocking. (laughs)

- Interviewer: You should have been to many places. Which place would you like to go to again, and what food would you like to eat again?
- KK: The place that I want to go again would be Tokyo Tower. The food I want to eat again is tuna sashimi!

- Interviewer: So what’s your impression of Japanese B2UTY? Their characteristic in one sentence?
- YS: Pretty! It will be possible to express in that one sentence (laughs) It is probably because (everyone) takes care of themselves thoroughly, that’s why?

- Interviewer: Having visited the Asian countries in July, is there any happening that left the deepest impression on you?
- KK: We visited each Asian country and each country we visited, had to take off the top layer of clothes. I made comparisons internally, as to which country had what kind of cheers when I took my clothes off, and which country had the loudest cheers. (laughs)

[NEWS] 2NE1 Has 2 MVs on YouTube’s 10 Most-Watched (Domestic) Kpop MVs of 2011

The K-pop craze that’s taking the world by storm was also manifest on the largest video portal site in the world, Youtube.
On December 21st, Youtube reported the top 10 most-watched music videos by domestic citizens in Korea (not including overseas views) since January 1st, 2011.

According to the report, the #1 most-watched K-pop music video in Korea for 2011 was Wonder Girls‘ and their hit track, “Be My Baby“.

HyunA‘s solo single “Bubble Pop” came in at #2, while SNSD‘s “The Boys” came in at #3, holding a record for immediately receiving 400,000 views upon release.

At #4 was “STEP” from KARA‘s third full-length album which is earning much love and support in Japan, and at #5 and #6 were 2NE1‘s “Lonely” and “I Am the Best“, respectively.

T-ara‘s “Roly Poly” came in at #7, followed by f(x)‘s “Pinocchio” at #8, SISTAR‘s “So Cool” came in at #9, and miss A‘s “Good-bye Baby” rounded out the top 10.

Yeum Donghoon from Google Korea remarked, “K-pop has an ever-growing impact on the world, so much that Youtube has launched an official ‘K-pop’ category on the site. I think the driving force behind K-pop spreading so quickly and intensely all over the world is the never-ending love and support the national fans show their favorite artists.”

In addition, recall that at the recent Google Korea ‘2011 YouTube Kpop Awards‘ we reported several weeks ago, 2NE1 received 2nd placehonors for having the KPOP MV with the second highest views overall (including both domestic and international views). They also managed to have THREE MVs make the Top 10 list, “I am the Best”, “Lonely”, “Hate You”.

The results of the domestic list may surprise some, however it is one more indication that though the Korean Blackjack fandom may not be as large as some other fandoms, 2NE1’s music and MVs are well-loved by the Korean general public.

Congratulations to 2NE1 and way-to-go Girl Power, the domestic Top 10 list is all female artists!

JYJ Park Yoochun to follow Lee Seung Gi’s footsteps in the ad industry?

Group JYJ member and actor Park Yoochun is shooting to become another Lee Seung Gi.
Park Yoochun started to appear as the solo model for TV CF for a new ramyun TV by a well known food brand. The killer smile that grabs at the female heart combined with the way he whispers ‘Kiss myun’ on the ad really takes it over on screen.

Netizens have commented on the ad, “He makes it so I have to buy that ramyun”, “Park Yoochun is just so sweet”, and “I’m on my way to buy the ramyun” and it’s heating up the internet.
Park Yoochun also appears in an ad for a popular game console and on an ad for a product of a pharmaceutical company’s with the other JYJ members Kim Jaejoongand Kim Junsu. The way his ads criss cross a variety of genres really proves that the ad industry has set its eyes on him.
Even among JYJ members, Park Yoochun is selected as a solo model the most thanks to his warm and healthy image. An ad industry insider said to OSEN on December 20th, “Park Yoochun’s face is not particularly one that pops or is very different from others but he is a star with a natural and healthy image. He is also popular as a member of JYJ, so the fact that he has an appeal to the young consumers in their teenage years and 20′s is also a positive.”

Another ad industry insider stated, “As he started to work as an actor also, it appears that his popularity is not with only the young people but with the older generations as well. There are many cases where the ad clients pick Park Yoochun as a model they hope for. I hear that there are a considerable amount of proposals for CF’s.”
It appears that the ad industry is pointing to Park Yoochun as the one to follow in the footsteps of Lee Seung Gi who has become the king of CF’s with his warm and healthy image as an uhmchinah.(uhmchinah = a slang that stands for mom’s friend’s son which refers that guy your mom raves about)
As Lee Seung Gi has been able to take over a wide variety of ads for financial institutions, electronics, clothing, food, and more with the love and support from the ad clients and the consumers, it is being discussed that Park Yoochun has the potential to become a powerful entity in the ad industry as well.
